1959

ELABORADOS METALICOS, S.A. (EMESA) starts its activity specialising in the manufacturing of steel: Furnace, Casting, Lamination, Structures, Wire Drawing, Metal Forming and Ironwork, reaching a workforce of 1,200 employees.

1983

EMESA-TREFILERIA, S.A. is spinned off from EMESA to specialise exclusively in the manufacturing of Steel for prestressing and post-tensioning. Its premises were moved to its current location in the Poligono de Sabón, Arteixo (La Coruna).

1989

EMESA-TREFILERIA, S.A. was acquired by ENSIDESA (Empresa Nacional Siderúrgica) [National iron and Steel Company] because of its outstanding results in manufacturing PC Wires and Strands.

1992

The ENSIDESA Group became CSI (Corporación Siderúrgica Integral) [Integral Iron and Steel Corporation] in order to be restructured before its privatization.

1997

CSI was privatised under the name ACERALIA becoming one of the largest steel groups in Europe with the participation of the ARISTRAIN and ARBED groups.

2002

In February of this year, USINOR (France), ARBED (Luxemburg) and ACERALIA (Spain) created ARCELOR to become the world leader in the steel industry.

2004

The Companhía Prevident, Sociedade de Controle de Participaçoes Financieras, S.A. acquired 100% of Emesa-Trefilería, S.A.’s share capital from ARCELOR. With this purchase, Companhía Previdente built up an important group of wire drawing companies, together with Sociedade Industrial de Trefilaría, S.A. (Socitrel) and Industrias Gálycas,S.A. Subsequently, in 2005 Italcables Spa was added to this group of companies and known as The Previdente Group
